Elon Musk Unveils Full SpaceX’s Spacesuit

Elon Musk Unveils Full SpaceX’s Spacesuit

Latest SpaceX Spacesuit
As SpaceX gets closer to its goal of sending astronauts into space, the private company is starting to share details on the spacesuits they’ll be wearing when make the trip. Last month CEO Elon Musk teased a brief look at the suit with a photo that was cropped to only show the helmet and chest portions, but now he’s taken to social media once more to share a full head-to-toe shot of the outfit.

Posted to Musk’s Instagram account, the photo shows the spacesuit posed next to SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule, which will be used for transporting astronauts to and from the International Space Station for NASA. This time around the picture reveals a mostly detailed look at things like the suit’s gloves, pants, and boots.

While the spacesuit looks incredibly minimal and lightweight when compared to what we’re used to seeing astronauts wear, these are designed mainly for use while inside the Dragon capsule or when transferring to another vehicle. They’re not for use while floating out in space or visiting the surface of the Moon or Mars.

Other details including padding and flexibility at the joints, meaning the suits likely offer plenty of mobility and range of motion; useful when trying to move around a capsule or space station. SpaceX also notes that the suits are pressurized, so they’ll keep the wearer alive if there’s depressurization in an emergency. Musk promises more information will be revealed in the near future.

WhatsApp Update Supports Picture-in-Picture Mode For Android 8.0

WhatsApp Update Supports Picture-in-Picture Mode For Android 8.0

WhatsApp
WhatsApp has pushed-out an update to Android users that includes support for picture-in-picture.

The Facebook-owned messenger has been testing the functionality since July, but had not revealed when users could expect to see the feature drop.

Picture-in-picture, which minimises a smartphone app into a small window that floats over the top of the operating system and can be used while another app runs fullscreen, is one of the headline new features of Android 8.0 Oreo.

WhatsApp version 2.17.323 supports picture-in-picture on any smartphone running Android 8.0 Oreo.

When users are in a video call, tapping the back button will continue the video call in a picture-in-picture window.

WhatsApp users can continue the video chat while browsing other conversations within WhatsApp, or launch another app.

This should probably extremely useful for those who regularly use WhatsApp video calls. The update follows the return of text-based statuses earlier this summer.
Facebook Testing New 'Match-up Feature' Like Tinder's Dating App

Facebook Testing New 'Match-up Feature' Like Tinder's Dating App

Facebook
Facebook is currently working on a new feature that looks similar to a dating app known as Tinder. This feature is capable of prompting users if they would like to hook up with certain friends.

If both of you respond positively, you’ll match and Facebook will encourage you to strike up a conversation on Messenger. If any of you selects the No Thanks option, it will not proceed further.

It isn’t clear what the feature is actually called or if it was designed specifically with dating in mind but Facebook has confirmed that it’s being tested on iOS and Android in Toronto and New Zealand.
“People often use Facebook to make plans with their friends," a Facebook spokesperson told Motherboard who spotted the feature.
"So, we're running a very small test in the Facebook app to make that easier. We look forward to hearing people's feedback.”
Motherboard also disclosed that the feature differed from Tinder by trying to match people who are already Facebook friends, but “didn't just show me potential love interests... [but] also displayed some of my friends”.

Facebook has been busy ripping features from other popular apps over recent months, with Snapchat being targeted particularly heavily.

Bear it in mind that the match-up feature may come with some potential harm even though it looks like fun to some. It may also be annoying to some who are not interested in it and you never can tell the next move being taken by someone especially when you decline after being matched up.

See Pen That Detects Cancer In 10 Seconds, Watch Video

See Pen That Detects Cancer In 10 Seconds, Watch Video

MassSpec Pen Detects Cancer
Scientists have developed a "pen" tool called a 'MassSpec pen' which is capable of detecting cancer by touch within 10 seconds and this will definitely bring a great revolution in surgery for the disease.

Features of the MassSpec Pen as reported by its developers at the University of Texas

 1. The MasSpec Pen can detect cancerous cells almost 150 times faster than existing technology.

 2. It has an accuracy rate of 96% which means there are very high chances that it will be able to find out correctly, where the cancerous cells are located.

The MassSpec pen is a major breakthrough achieved when it comes to treating patients with cancer as it allows surgeons to see exactly which tissues are cancerous during an operation, meaning there is a better chance of removing "every last trace" of the disease.

Livia Schiavinato Eberlin, an assistant professor of chemistry who designed the study, said it could significantly end the likelihood of cancer recurring.
If you talk to cancer patients after surgery, one of the first things many will say is 'I hope the surgeon got all the cancer out'.

It's just heartbreaking when that's not the case. > But our technology could vastly improve the odds that surgeons really do remove every last trace of cancer during surgery.
– LIVIA SCHIAVINATO EBERLIN
It is a well know fact that if all of the cancerous tissues are not removed during surgery, it can cause tumours to re-grow. But removing too much healthy tissue is not ideal as it can result to pain, nerve damage and deformation. Thyroid cancer patients can also lose the ability to speak if too much tissue is taken out.

How the MassSpec pen works

The MassSpec pen works by releasing a tiny droplet of water onto the tissue, which soaks up chemicals inside the cells.

The water is then sucked back up and analysed using an instrument called the mass spectrometer. This instrument is capable of detecting thousands of molecules and also identify cancerous compounds present in the body system.

However, Doctors can see the result on a screen, meaning they can test tissue during surgery and much more accurately target the cancerous area.

A publication on the MasSpec Pen is currently available at the Science Translational Medicine journal as adequate plans are being made to start testing the new device during oncology surgeries next year.

Google Launches Chrome 61, See Major Fixes

Google Chrome
A new and stable version of the Google Chrome is available for update. This update brings several significant changes as well as important security updates for users.

The Google Chrome 61 will be available for update on Windows, macOS and Linux platforms. As regards to security, it will be ideal to update your Chrome browser to the latest stable version.

You can force-run an update check by entering 'chrome://help' in the address bar. The browser should then query its update servers and download the update.

You may notice a change in the location of the help page. That's because Chrome 61 changes the help location from the previous location to 'chrome://settings/help'. It also looks more like the settings page to ensure uniformity in design.

At the moment, there is little information on the new features present in the Google Chrome 61 aside the security fixes and improvements made.

Here are some of the more significant changes in the update:

1. Add initial set of new default user images.

2. Autoplay policy for HTML5 video: chrome://flags/#autoplay-policy

3. Data Saver site breakdown doesn't add up to totals on version update. Also, don't show negative savings.

4. DevTools: Add 'Save profile' toolbar button to performance panel.

5. Disable first run for managed profiles.

6. [Extensions] Don't allow content scripts on the New Tab Page.
Enable automatically detected CUPS printers in the print preview dialog.

7. Enable asm.js -> WebAssembly by default.

8. Keep scanned host devices in the cache for longer (from 5 minutes to 2 hours).

9. Move extension unzip/unpack to background thread to prevent the blocking of the main utility thread.

10. On dual-GPU macs, blacklist MSAA for both GPUs if either is Intel.

“In fact, many connections are already taking place every day, whether it's someone placing an order with a local bakery or looking at new styles from a clothing store. But the way this happens now on WhatsApp is pretty rudimentary.”
