The move isn't surprising, given how frequently developers are leaving the platform. And there have only been a handful of Windows phones ever launched on T-Mobile, with the Alcatel Fierce XL being the only Windows 10 Mobile device besides the IDOL 4S.
Both of the handsets were sold for relatively short periods of time with the Un-carrier, indicating a lack of popularity. The Fierce XL was dropped nine months after its launch, and the IDOL 4S only made it six months , even though the Snapdragon 820-powered phone was heavily discounted to just $288 back in February.
We've reached out to T-Mobile to confirm whether or not the app will still function after the end of support - simply not longer receiving updates - or if it will be killed off entirely. We'll keep you updated if we hear anything.
T-Mobile also made it known that the app will no longer function, issuing the following statement:
That’s correct, the app will no longer have Windows phone functionality.
However, those users will be able to obtain access by going to mytmobile.com.
